"Say...

'FAM did not benefit much from AFC in the past'

Image
Asian Football Confederation (AFC) members will cast votes at a leading hotel in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow in a bid to elect a new president. The race is between four candidates — United Arab Emirates’ Yousuf Al Serkal, Saudi Hafez Al Medlej, Bahrain’s Sheikh Salman Ebrahim Al-Khalifa and Worawi Makudi of Thailand. While AFC brace for a new president, how will this impact Malaysian football? Many claim the FA of Malaysia (FAM) and Malaysian football in general have not really benefited from AFC’s presence in Kuala Lumpur. The relationship between both bodies was only strengthened during Zhang Jilong tenure as the acting president. Zhang assumed the role after former president Qatari Mohammad Hammam was banned for life by Fifa for bribery in 2011. FAM general-secretary Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad ( pic ) acknowledged the ties between AFC and FAM during Zhang’s time in office. “FAM did not benefit much from AFC in the past especially during the tenure of former president (Ham...

Sultan Ahmad: "I'm in no rush"

The FA of Malaysia (FAM) exco meeting held yesterday was an anti-climax of sorts. Many, including several officials, were anticipating the announcement of the new general-secretary who will replace Azzuddin Ahmad next month. However, FAM president Sultan Ahmad Shah told the Media he was in "no rush" and wanted to find a "physically fit" individual who will occupy the hot seat. Without doubt Azzuddin is one fit former army general. Having played football with him, Azzuddin can put most of us to shame on the field. It remains to be clear if Selangor FA general-secretary Hamidin Amin will sit in the secretariat as highly speculated. In fact, Hamidin's name made its rounds when former deputy minitster Ibrahim Saad left Wisma FAM but was replaced by Azzuddin instead. For the record, Hamidin is also FAM vice president and the competition committe chairman. Wth the nation bracing for the 13th General Election, this will give Sultan Ahmad and his advisors ti...

FAM to revise Article 88; Azzuddin heads to AFF

Image
Two interesting developments transpired during the FA of Malaysia (FAM) exco meeting on Wednesday. 1. After much pressure and criticism, FAM's legal committee will now look into Article 88 of FAM's Statute and propose recommendations to "clarify" the infamous article before it is presented to the Congress in August. 2. FAM president who is also AFF president Sultan Ahmad Shah has appointed FAM general-secretary Azzuddin Ahmad ( pic ) as AFF general-secretary. Azzuddin is "honoured" with the appointment and is set to leave FAM by May 1. Well and good that there are now attempts to look into Article 88 but it remains to be seen how will the draft amendments look like. Will the article envelope alternative Media (including websites, social Media)? Will it impose a further gag upon more people? Or will they decide to remove the Article altogether? As for Azzuddin's departure from FAM, would this mean that Sultan Ahmad will also give up his presidency...

'Mat Rempits' M-League; Media 'used as a tool'

Image
It was certainly an interesting day in the world of Twitter. Comments and statements made had tickled some, infuriated many and left others wondering if people actually knew what they were talking about. There are those who strongly believe that national coach K.Rajagobal could be staring at a pre-mature exit based on the current turn of events. As he will be hauled up by the Disciplinary Board for allegedly violating Article 88 of the FA of Malaysia's (FAM) Statute, it has been seen as the easy way for the national body to cut ties with the former international. FAM general secretary Azzuddin Ahmad was quoted as saying; “There may be a plot to remove Rajagopal and the media might have been used as a tool towards this end . Which media organisation 'might' have been used as a tool? A tool for who? Who are those involved in "a plot to remove Rajagobal"? Any person who strongly believe that removing Rajagobal through Article 88 would do the trick is cert...

Tahniah Kelantan

Image
Kelantan digelar juara Liga Super 2012.
