Deepavali falls on Nov 2 which is a Saturday, said Penang Hindu Association deputy president P. Murugiah. The Indian government, meanwhile, stated: Nov 2 as a restricted holiday for Deepavali while Nov 3 is a gazetted holiday. In short, Diwali is celebrated throughout India on Nov 3.
