Bahrain v Malaysia

The last time both teams met - they managed a 1-1 draw at the Shah Alam Stadium. Tonight, Bahrain have home advantage as the middle eastern team host Malaysia in Manama for the 2015 Asian Cup qualifier (kick off 10.45pm, live on Astro Arena 801). Bahrain coach Anthony Hudson is quite confident of securing wins in their match against the Malaysian Tigers followed by Yemen four days later en route to qualifying for the tournament in Australia. AFC probe FAM, Norshahrul

Asian Football Confederation (AFC) are investigating national striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha and the FA of Malaysia (FAM) for breach of Fifa regulations. In an email response to Mailsport over two incidents that occurred at the Malaysia-Bahrain Asian Cup qualifiers Group D match at Shah Alam Stadium last Tuesday, AFC confirmed investigations were underway. Mailsport had highlighted the issue last Thursday. The match ended 1-1 with Norshahrul’s 70th minute goal celebrations courting controversy. Norshahrul, who stars for Super League outfit Johor Darul Takzim, lifted his shirt to reveal a religious message breaching Fifa Laws of the Games Law 4 (Players Equipment). The regulation prohibits the use of “political, religious or commercial messages” during matches. The ruling extends to a player’s undershirt. After the final whistle, smoke bombs were lit by fans. UPDATE 10.45pm: Msia lost 3-2 to 10-men Bahrain despite enjoying a 2-0 lead. ------ Perhaps on this holy day our Harimau Malaya could finally earn their points since playing in Round 3 of the Asian Zone Olympic qualifiers. Malaysia play Bahrain at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil tonight (8.45pm kick off). National coach Ong Kim Swee has promised the fans a "good showing". The defenders and midfielders have been playing well. Now let's hope the strikers play their part and get the goals. If we lose tonight, we can kiss our Olympic dream goodbye.
