Logan as MHC CEO? EMGS admits visa woes

Image
Former international K.Logan Raj ( pic: second from right ) has revealed he is interested to take on the role as the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) chief executive officer. Logan, who played for the country in two Commonwealth Games (1998 and 2006) and was the project director for a telecommunications company, is expected to submit his resume to MHC today. But will Logan be able to withstand the pressure working in MHC? Will Logan suffer the same fate as another former international Maninderjit Singh? Read Logan's thoughts in Mailsport today . Also read about supposed talks that a well known figure in the sports scene has been in talks with certain quarters to take over the MHC general-secretary role. Apparently the current MHC general-secretary Johari Aziz is set to quit citing "health reasons". But Johari rubbished such talks by saying "I'm sihat walafiat, Insya Allah!" Meanwhile, Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) - the one-stop cen...

Who will be the new coach?

UPDATE - Friday (11am): MHC vice senior vice president Prof Dr S.Shamala respects Mike's decision to quit but questioned the timing. Loosely said, not cool bro . Meanwhile, MHC concluded the coaches - Tai Beng Hai and his assistant Nor Saiful Zaini will be retained as reported here . ----- First Maninderjit Singh quit as Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) secretary. Now national coach Tai Beng Hai submitted his resignation letter as reported here. All this in a span of two days. Maninderjit, or better known as Mike, is believed to have left MHC to pursue his education. Beng Hai, meanwhile, must certainly be disappointed over the team’s failure to book a berth in the London Olympics. Some journalists have plenty to say about the duo. There are times they avoid members of the Media by not answering phone calls or simply shying away - as seen here . I’ve known Mike since his playing days and even better when he coached SMK Sri Hartamas with Minarwan Nawawi in the KL U-...

Mike says "sorry".

“I ask that you immediately contact the president by e-mail to apologise for your comments and that you unconditionally withdraw them from the public arena. “The immediacy and extent of your apology and retraction will inform the nature of any further action to be taken by the FIH. “For your information, at the time of writing no decision has been taken with regards to any replacement for South Africa as the FIH is following the process outlined in the Qualification system. “It is really unfortunate that you have either deliberately chosen to ignore the aforementioned Qualification system or have written what you have in total ignorance of the published system.” Above are the contents of an email by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) to Malaysia Hockey Federation secretary general Maninderjit Singh (pic) . According to NST's Jugjet Singh, Maninderjit, or better known as Mike, considers the matter closed as seen here . Is the matter indeed closed? HD says: ...

Our hockey is bull$hit

That's what some of the old timers keep saying over and over again. I remember covering schools hockey extensively. Honestly, it had its fair share of dramas - ask Minarwan Nawawi ( pic ) and Maninderjit Singh as I'm sure they 'enjoyed' their short stint coaching SMK Sri Hartamas. Sadly, we are not seen as "competitive" beyond the age-group categories. Some insist Malaysian hockey is no longer a good as it used to be. Others say it is still as good, if not better. It must be noted, during the early days there was no such thing as qualifying rounds. Just a handful of countries played hockey. It is no longer so today. Then there's the argument we don't have good talents. Or have been employing the wrong tactics? Malaysia managed to book a berth in the third and fourth playoffs in the Asian Champions Trophy in Ordos , Mongolia. Read Jugjet Singh's articles during the national team's stint throughout the tournament. Also, read SS Dhaliwal's b...
