Is this the end of Lee Chong Wei

Image
Haresh Says, as published in Malay Mail today. TO bask in the spotlight over the effort of another comes natural to many. A victory would see these individuals shamelessly associating themselves with the victor, as he is welcomed home to a glorified heroes return. Sadly, Lee Chong Wei can only count on a handful of ‘friends’ who remain by his side, hoping for a positive outcome when he faces a hearing by a three-member panel from the Badminton World Federation soon. He could face a two-year ban. The world No 1 has been temporarily suspended after testing positive for dexamethasone during an anti-doping test at the World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark on Aug 30. The saga shocked many but the turn of events remain baffling. There seems to be more questions than answers. It's no drama says Dr Ramlan

National Sports Institute (NSI) chief executive officer Dr Ramlan Aziz stressed the cramps suffered by world No. 1 shuttler Lee Chong Wei was a genuine case due to the lack of ventilation at the Tianhe Sports Center in Guangzhou, China. The air-conditioning in the hall was switched off during the second set in the World Championships men’s singles final between host player Lin Dan and Lee. Lee had to stop play earlier and was attended to by the tournament doctor. He, however, continued to play only to retire due to cramps. Later he was rushed to the hospital and was put on intravenous drips. Lee was discharged late Sunday night. “I cannot understand when people say it was another drama. No it wasn’t,” said Dr Ramlan. Usain Bolt-ed out

And many of his peers came to his rescue. Olympic champion Usain Bolt fell victim to the International Amateur Athletics Federation's false starting ruling at the World Championships. Among those who lambasted the ruling include Walter Dix and Kim Collins. Read what they say here . They hope the ruling will not be seen at the London Olympics next year. Watch how Usain takes off his shirt in frustration here . If only athletes were more vocal and liberal in Malaysia. Opps, athletes in Malaysia are penalised for speaking against organisations but get away by skipping anti-doping tests. Silly me. HD says: It's a shame we couldn't see Usain run.
