Dr Anuar memangku jawatan presiden MPM, Zainal digantung tugas

As reported by Bernama KUALA LUMPUR, 28 Feb (Bernama) -- Timbalan Presiden Majlis Paralimpik Malaysia (MPM) Prof Madya Dr Anuar Suun kini memangku jawatan presiden majlis itu berikutan Datuk Zainal Abu Zarin digantung tugas kerana disiasat atas dakwaan penyelewengan wang MPM. Beliau berkata demikian kepad...

"MPC writes off RM3.8m"

Image
"I'm trying to find out if we have indeed wrapped up investigations or investigations are still on-going. I can't comment further until I get further clarification from my officers. " Those were the words of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission director of investigations Mustapha Ali. This was regarding The Sun's article today about the Malaysian Paralympic Council writing off RM3.8 million 'invested' in a company that belonged to the president and his family. I had, in June 2011, exposed the RM4million 'investment' as published in The Malay Mail . It was also highlighted in Malaysia Today as seen here . I'm dumbfounded. HD says: ...........

Does anyone care?

UPDATE 1.15pm: Sports Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek hails paralympic archer a national hero; to raise additional incentives for London Paralympics winners at the Cabinet meeting. Read more here . ---- This is a screen shot of the Malaysian Paralympic Council website minutes ago. There is no mention about national archer Hasihin Sanawi's silver medal effort in the men's individual recurve W1/W2 event at the London Paralympics yesterday. Ironically, an old article of mine Robbing 'em blind , published in The Malay Mail on June 16 last year, is still the 'latest highlight'. It must be noted that steps have been taken to search for any other possible websites reflecting the views of MPC but have found none. Thus it is safe to say the website above remains as the official website. If the Council itself does not highlight the feats of its own athletes, what more the major dailies today. HD says: Oh well....

Walk the talk

"Much has been raised on the difference in the giving of Shakam incentives (Sport Reward Scheme), to normal athletes and paralympic athletes. In fact, on the lifetime allowance for paralympic athletes, after winning medals. "I find there is a need in that direction and the ministry will work on it. Nevertheless, we need to prove it through wins in the London Paralympic Games," he said. Those were the words of deputy Sports Minister Razali Ibrahim ( pic ) as published in NST . This reminds me of an article I wrote last year - Robbing 'em blind . And this also makes me wonder of the Paralympics RM4 million poser . I am sure our special athletes will thank Razali for initiating such efforts. And Razali is right to say that the athletes will also need to show that they truly deserve it by bagging honours. It's high time for all parties to walk the talk. HD says: And now to listen to Lou Reed's Walk and Talk It .

Where is the money MPC?

On June 29, 2011 I had written the frontpage article ' Paralimpics RM4 million poser ' in The Malay Mail. The article was also featured on Malaysia Today . Almost one year ahead and there is still no sign of the staggering RM4 million "investment" by the Malaysian Paralympic Council (MPC). And the members are getting agitated. The investment was made to an events management company - Paralimpik Ventures Sdn Bhd. Checks revealed the MPC president and his sons are listed as directors of the company. Below is the contents of a letter sent by the Malaysian Blind Sports Association (MBSA) to MPC on April 19, 2012; Bayaran Balik Dari Paralympik Ventures Sdn Bhd Kepada MPM Persatuan Sukan Orang Buta Malaysia (MBSA) iaitu salah satu Ahli Majlis kepada Majlis Paralimpik Malaysia (MPM) ingin bertanya kepada tuan selaku Bendahari MPM sama ada Syarikat Paralimpik Ventures Sdn Bhd telah membayar balik RM2 juta serta 5% faedah bagi 4 tahun kepada MPM. Saya difahamkan b...

Sports Commissioner's Office still clueless

Image
It's been more than a month. But the Sports Commissioner's Office is still in the dark over the RM4 million channeled from the Malaysian Paralympics Council to Paralimpik Ventures Sdn Bhd. Sports Commissioner Yassin Salleh ( pic ) assured they are still keeping tabs on the matter. I really hope so. Otherwise, it would just go to show that anyone can get away with anything in Malaysian sports. HD says: RM4 million is a LOT of money.
