3 + 1 = must buy all 4?

This is with relation to the FA of Malaysia's (FAM) ruling that teams are allowed to sign up a maximum of four foreign players , one being from an Asean country, in the 2014 M-League season. During Astro Arena's Formasi recently, I was asked, among others (including the National Development Football Programme and Ong Kim Swee taking playing caretaker coach after K. Rajagobal's contract was not extended), about this ruling. Flanked by former international and newly signed Perlis coach Reduan Abdullah, I said:  1. Teams are allowed a maximum of four foreign players and NOT forced to sign up for imports 2. Rope in players within one's budget. Don't buy a Ferrari if all you can afford is a Perodua Kancil. 3. Teams tend to overspend resulting in wages owed - a problem that lingers in the M-League despite its professional status. 4. Local players need to buck up and fight for a spot upfront. If they are comfortable sitting on the sidelines, listening to their iP...

A Stadium that rocks.

Stadium Angkasa on RTM1 last night featured the FA of Malaysia (FAM) competition committee chairman Hamidin Amin, coach Reduan Abdullah, Felda United goalkeeper Hamsani Ahmad and Berita Harian's Wan Fakhrul Wan Bakar. The topic discussed was about the introduction of foreigners in the M-League. He also cautioned there are rumors of players being on the take and fixing matches even at the lower divisions. Hamsani advised his peers that football bribery is "not worth it". Wan Fakhrul summed his session up by saying there is no point of the Media hyping up about the teams if the fans do not play their part by heading to the stadiums and cheering on their teams from the start to the end of the...

Blind Justice

Image
1. In 1991 Raja Ahmad Zainuddin Raja Omar was slapped with a 3 year ban for questioning a referee's credibility. 2. In 2009 Reduan Abdullah was handed a 12 month ban for questioning the fitness levels of players in the M-League and hitting at FA of Malaysia. 3. In 2010, B.Satianathan was given a 6 month suspension for questioning the fixture involving T-Team and Perlis. 4. In 2010, Selangor defender Khairul Annuar Baharom heat-butts Haris Safwan of T-Team and walks away with a 3 game ban. From the Sidelines today speaks about the predicament faced by five Perak players suspended after supposedly "menyerang" a referee during a game against Sabah in May. It's called Blind Justice . HD says: Justice may be blind, but it can see in the dark.
