3 + 1 = must buy all 4?
This is with relation to the FA of Malaysia's (FAM) ruling that teams are allowed to sign up a maximum of four foreign players, one being from an Asean country, in the 2014 M-League season.
During Astro Arena's Formasi recently, I was asked, among others (including the National Development Football Programme and Ong Kim Swee taking playing caretaker coach after K. Rajagobal's contract was not extended), about this ruling.
Flanked by former international and newly signed Perlis coach Reduan Abdullah, I said:
1. Teams are allowed a maximum of four foreign players and NOT forced to sign up for imports
2. Rope in players within one's budget. Don't buy a Ferrari if all you can afford is a Perodua Kancil.
3. Teams tend to overspend resulting in wages owed - a problem that lingers in the M-League despite its professional status.
4. Local players need to buck up and fight for a spot upfront. If they are comfortable sitting on the sidelines, listening to their iPods while waiting for their fat salaries at the end of the month, then they should not be called footballers.
On the issue of the presumed spat between the Sports Ministry and FAM, I said I don't know what the issue was.
A viewer, who goes by the Facebook page Irfahs Ri commented on Arena's Facebook page:
"Dia kena panggil utk forum..tapi dia tidak tahu masalah..teruk laaa si pnjg rambut ni."
Sorry brother, but I honestly don't know what is the problem between the two entities to begin with. All we hear are presumptions and supposed clash of egos between certain individuals.
As far as I am concerned, at this juncture it is about the involvement of a suspended member from a national body which is supposed to be seen free from government interference.
And apparently the Sports Commissioner's Office, while drawing out the pros and cons of Annuar Musa's inclusion to the committee, had admitted there was a "grey area". It looks like the minister - despite it being an open secret of him wanting Annuar Musa in the committee - was not advised properly.
Both parties are supposed to facilitate and not frustrate each other. So if the earlier presumptions and assumptions are true, wouldn't that be a real shame?

I don't think so.
p/s kenapa Subahan Kamal MASIH pengurus Harimau Malaya?
Kamarul

Everybody who wants to champion football must go back to the basics.
ReplyDeleteThe debacle between KBS and FAM comes to show how miserably they have gone wrong in their roles. Obviously FAM have become hopeless, and living in total denial. As for KJ, like the others who came from a flawed system during adolescent period in school and further, is the main contributing factor to what we're facing today in our society - Abuse of power and privileged.
One of the key issues surrounding Malaysian sports involving the practitioners and researchers are the inability to work together to assure that sports have positive rather than negative experience, leading to positive rather than negative outcome from sports involvement. Sports organizations and individuals running them must develop healthier, more psycho-socially competent people, rather than simply skilled individuals.

Sdr Xabi Alonso,
