Fairy tale: 'Athletes come down hard on officials'

National shuttlers Goh V Shem and Goh Soon Huat were today issued warning letters for their Instagram postings during the recent Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. It was reported: Soon Huat’s Instagram posting stated “Bronze medal match not so important?” And followed by three question marks and a sad emoji. V Shem was more blunt in his posting - “Players fighting for the bronze medal. But, VIPs gone after we lose in the semi-final match.” Read the full article here .  The NST also reported the matter as seen here . Also read  Utusan  and Berita Harian's reports. The articles did not state if the VIPs were indeed present during the match. And if they were not there, why? Now here's a report I know many would like to read. If only it is not a fairy tale ... Forget about dramatic officials

They rallied the crowd to cheer them on during the match and rightfully gave badminton enthusiasts something to cheer about. Goh V Shem and Lim Khim Wah defeated China pair Chai Biao-Hong Wei 21-19, 21-18 in the men’s doubles final at the Malaysia Open over the weekend. Both pairs provided a breath of fresh air for their character and eagerness to outdo each other proved badminton was alive at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil. The national badminton scene seems to be hogging the limelight for the wrong reasons recently. The drama seen outside the courts is more apparent that what transpires during tournaments. The results of the players have not been satisfactory, but for men's doubles pair Goh V Shem and Lim Khim Wah who will play China's Chai Biao-Hong Wei in the Malaysian Open final today. As expected, world No 1 Lee Chong Wei is set to retain his 10th title as he plays Tommy Sugiarto Several matters were highlighted throughout the week including the 'resignation' of BAM general manager Kenny Goh as reported here . While some parties had 'refuted' Kenny quitting the national stable, SS Dhaliwal provided the resignation letter on his Twitter account ( pic below ).
