And the 15-year-old has this to say to her peers - get out and get some sun! "I travel a lot ... so much at times. Yes, there are times I wished I could just stay at home and do what every 15-year-old would do as well," said Zulaikah. "But spending time out has reaped results. So yeah, they (children and teenagers) should get out and get some sun. " She was quick to admit it was easier said than done. "It boils down to interest at the end of the day. You just can't force it (someone to love sports)." Zulaikah, who turned 15 on September 14, admitted she was nervous when told she made the cut to the national squad two weeks ago. "I was really excited but nervous ... I wasn't playing my best in the past last two tournaments ...

GOLF: Sad Deepavali for Murthy

Murthy as he woke to news of his house having burnt down in the early hours of   Thursday . Murthy was playing in the Perlis Closed which began   on Wednesday . He carded a 76 and looked in good nick to make the cut. When he awoke at   6.30am   on Thursday   he saw he had more than 40 missed calls. “I immediately called my sister and she said the house had caught fire in the wee hours of the morning,” said a dejected Murthy, who represented Malaysia from 1990 to1996.  “We (Murthy and his wife) immediately drove back to Banting.”  The source of the fire is unknown but early indications are a faulty socket might have been the cause. No one was hurt, but Murthy’s father Somasundaram Sadayan, 69, was in the hous...

Malaysians putting in Rio?

Golf was last played at the Olympics in 1904 and saw only two nations competing - USA and Canada. The sport makes a come back at the 2016 edition in Brazil . Originally, the format was going to be the top-60 players in the world. The Professional Golf of Malaysia have already embarked on a 'Road to Olympics 2016' programme as seen on their blog . However, will any of our golfers be capable of making the cut for Rio? Perhaps that will be the talk around the greens when some of the best local players tee off in the Selangor Masters, featuring the likes of  Nicholas Fung, Lim Eng Seng (pic) and Danny Chia, at the Kota Permai Golf and Country Club that ends today.
