Hockey juniors back in World Cup semis - after 31 years

Malaysia booked a place in the semifinals of the Junior World Cup with a 2-1 win over South Korea at Dyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi.

The last time Malaysia made the last four was at the 1982 edition in Kuala Lumpur. They will take on France in the semis today.


The Malaysians were outstanding, both in attack and defence, and gave scant respect to the Koreans who had dumped India in the quarterfinals.


“I am speechless. This is indeed a great moment for Malaysian hockey. I dedicate this feat to all Malaysians whose prayers have been answered,” said coach K. Dharmaraj

“We went out there to give our best and believed the result would be in our favour.

  2. Dear Haresh, just out of curiosity, was the MHC's President in India during the Junior Hockey WC? I can't see him there (not on TV at least).....
