Qatar 2 Malaysia 0

Malaysia went down 2-0 against Qatar in the opening match of the 2015 Asian Cup qualifiers in Doha.

Khalfan Ibrahim scored Qatar's first goal in the early part of the second half through a free kick as the ball deflected the Malaysian defenders and flew past goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat.

Khalfan almost scored another goal in the dying minutes of the match but his shot was stopped by the posts.

Nevertheless, Yusef Ahmed hardly broke a sweat as he slotted in the ball across the line in the final minute of the match due to a serious flaw by the Malaysian backline.

Mahalli Jasuli gave a credible performance in the engine room while referee Faghani Alireza from Iran deserves special mention for managing the game well.

The Malaysian side, although being able to contain the Qatari team, were fangless up front and hardly tested goalkeeper Qasem Burhan.

Malaysia will next play Yemen on March 22 at the Shah Alam Stadium.

  1. Just accept the fact The Tigers got a long way to go. If at all we had beaten Qatar , it could only be done on Qatar's misfortune , not on the flow of the game. Got a lot hard and honest work had to be done .

    1. Dia tu salah profesion, sepatutnya jadi politician. Inilah akibatnya bila kita terlampau ghairah nak bagi 'reward for mediocrity', bagi datukship bila menang peringkat sea games aja. Itu Ong baba melaka pun sama, cakap saja pandai, semua politician belaka...Podahlah bolasepak.

    2. Seems that it's a mistake to give him award...agree regarding the way he talks, just like a politician spreading cock n bull statements! The scoring department has been shooting blanks for months! The playmaking midfielders also USELESS! He dares to say that the team is OK! My goodness! Anyway this is our style of profesionalisme. Malaysian Standard MS, only good to be put at helmet! Even SIRIM approved the low quality helmet as safe to be used, what more left to be said for football management in Malaysia???!!!

  4. Dear Kermit, agreed with you. Like it or not and I've noticed this for quite a while already. Rajagopal seems to favour players from certain race only.

  5. Aren't we sick and tired of Malaysian football? They are very good in giving excuses each time when the team fumble miserably. Just look at the performance and imagine and ask ourselves whether we have it in us? -Seriously speaking, we don't have it. Lets not pretend and give false hope to the nation and don't let stupidity to prevail when making comments or press conference.(coaches and officials)

Soon RG will be made the scapegoat as usual.- What else are they good at? They are so incompetent they even can't recognize what is the actual problem and what need to be done to overcome it.

We got nothing to be surprised of. "These is their football and it will always be their way of footballing"
