Raja can't ask for more; pitch horrible, rubbish everywhere

National coach K.Rajagobal admitted his side will face an uphill battle when they play Thailand in Bangkok in the AFF Cup return leg semifinal this Thursday.

Malaysia were held to a 1-1 draw against the Thais in the first leg match held at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil last night.

Norshahrul Idlan Talaha finally inked his name on the score sheet with a goal in the 48th minute but Thailand's Teerasil Dangda silenced the Malaysian crowd with a brilliant header in the 78th minute.

Rajagobal had this to say;

“It was the best match we’ve played. Honestly, we deserved a 3-1 win but I can’t ask for more. We didn’t start with the core players but the boys played a good match.

“I know it will be a tough match in Thailand and it can go any way. The critics thought Thailand would have defeated us at Bukit Jalil but that didn’t happen. This is football.”

Thailand coach German Winfried Anton Schafer  - who was sent off by Iranian referee Torki Mohsen Ramezanali - had this to say;

“We didn’t play well. Malaysia was a difficult team but after they led 1-0 we played better football and the draw was fantastic.

“It’s not easy playing in front of an 80,000 crowd who are against you. I know the team (Malaysia) and it is not easy."

It was a fantastic match with brilliant football displayed by both teams - way better than the other semi final clash between the Philippines and Singapore which ended in a 0-0 draw on Saturday.
Sadly, the pitch was horrible. Period.

Some fans decided to bring their laser torches to the stands and almost caused the match to be called off by the refreee.

And to top it all, the National Sports Complex turned into a big rubbish dump with litter strewn everywhere - from the corridors of the stadium, parking lot to the stairways heading to the LRT station.

Sigh!

HD says: Looking forward to the second leg clash in Bangkok.

  1. "Raja cannot ask for more"

Only true for the time up to the goal by Matyo.

Itupun bila kita abaikan fakta yang Amar Rohidan terpaksa DIbantu pertahanan, walaupun tugasnya adalah MEMbantu pertahanan.

p/s Is this the kind of player's character Raja so often talk about?

Oh ya, 4-5-1 bukan strategi menyerang, hanya mengharapkan counter attack.

Adakah 4-5-1 masih dipakai selepas jaringan pertama?

    3. Keadaan tandas sungguh teruk. Tiada lampu. Banjir di tingkat bawah.
    4. Untuk game pkl 8, patut sediakan tempat ambil wuduk. Tak susah utk sediakan paip tambahan di luar tandas khas utk ambil wuduk. Patut juga sediakan khemas khas utk orang islam sembahyang.
Last sekali. Mintala tolong bukak pintu pagar keluar dgn banyak. Stadium direka utk memudahkan pergerakan keluar. Tapi kalau hanya 2 pintu kecil digunakan. Xdpt bayangkan kalau ada kebakaran.
Sori HD, xtau kat mana nak luahkan.
Dari penyokong yg membayar tiket ke stadium.

  3. Actually I dont quite agree to Amar Rohidan being subbed which preceded the goal by Thailand. Malaysia had the balance and shape in midfield until a more attacking-minded set up with Safee up front, gave Thailand a little bit more space to have more control of the game.

Kunalan who just came on and not warmed up enough, did not track back to close down Thai's right back to cross to Teerasil. And Teerasil was loosely marked because we had one less defensive midfielder to crowd him out.

Anyway, there's still 90 more minutes for us to get it right. Difficult? Yes. Impossible? Definitely not. One goal in Bangkok and we are even in away goals. Our players just need to be more confident and clinical in front of goal. Safee and Matyo in the last 10 minutes could have put them away if they had the composure. Azamudin also wasnt as cool as he usualy was. Rajagobal to sort this out with everyone.

  4. This time around I, very much agree wt the Coach. We can't expect much from the Malaysian players, their ability are very limited and they can only play according to instructions and nothing more...

As for the rubbish; hopefully it doesn't reflect on our culture or even our footballing standard.

    What say you?
