Johor's three key ingredients

Discipline, dedication and integrity.

Johor FA president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim believes those are the three key ingredients that will ensure the success of southern teams Johor and Johor United.

For the record, Super League outfit Johor FC will now play as Johor while the Premier League Johor FA team will be known as Johor United next season.

Fandi Ahmad will play team manager cum chief coach for Johor with Ismail Ibrahim as coach. Azmi Mohamed, meanwhile, is the coach for Johor United.

Among the players that will don the colours of Johor next year include former Spain national player Daniel Guiza (pic), Norshahrul Idlan Talaha, Muslim Ahmad and the Abdul Radzak twins -Aidil Zafuan and Zaquan Adha.

The unification of both teams was expected based on my meeting with the Johor prince in March as seen here.

It will be interesting to note Johor and Johor United's progression in their respective leagues. Johor FC were placed ninth in the Super League while Johor FA finished fourth in the Premier League last season.

Is this merely an easy way of getting Johor to play top flight football? Or is this a revolution of Malaysian football?

The 2013 season will say it all.

  1. GOOD TO HAVE THIS TYPE OF SPIRITS IN MALAYSIA LEAGUE, IT CAN PUSH ALL THE CLUBS TO WORK MORE HARDER IN DEVELOPMENT ,, AND ALSO INT CAN MAKE LOCAL PLAYERS WORK MORE HARDER ,, COSE NOW THEY KNOW ,, MORE MONEY IS THERE,,,,

  2. This is not a sport developement but some sort like a power of ringgit for immediate succes which possibly down to chaos if wrongly managed...

Eager to see what will be happened next season and after to this MANCITY 2.0...

*Ringgit is not a key of succes...

  3. MANCT 1.0 is already faced the effect..they only bought the skill of players but not their loyalty...at the end, after 1 season, the players moved to the other tycoon who offered more ringgits...so there is a possibility it will be happened to MANCT2.0 as well...

    Lets see after next season....

  4. Totally agreed with Kemahkemim. Team management is also crucial in getting the right result. You can see how FAM is being handled. Even with large amount of funds given by the GOVT, the national team is stil "di takuk lama".

At this rate, were gonna have another "im a fighter FA president that would stay on and on unti. Kingdom fall. Haisshhh. I totally disagree with the hostile takeover of johorfc, quick and instant success will backfire long term. Hhhmmm semakin bosan. Please HD,tell that prince, what he is doing is sad sad and downright wrong..

  6. Bro Haresh,

Me thinks there is more to it.We will watch their age group development plans esp for their under 20's.This will be the main pointer to see if the ringgits are for real or for some shine from the neon.

The hey days of Boban,Lahad Dadok,Muyhiddin,Sujendran etc..has never come back for Johor. Then JC stepped in and splashed away fortunes....but Johor continued to decline albeit some sporadic success. Then the migration of players and coaches further contributed to the decline.
My hope is for Johor to rise (maybe now we graft the players with ringgits for instant feel good factors) and we should have the right youth development plans worked out in tandem by this new team management.

    Cheers
    JohorFan
