GoAsean 'pulls out' from Astro, Sarawak pulls out from Tourism Board

Travel channel GoAsean is no longer available on Astro starting today. It is understood those behind GoAsean requested that they be removed from channel 737. It remains unclear why, despite claims by certain quarters the pull out was due to "monetary issues". The 24-hour travel channel, brainchild of Prime Minister Najib Razak, was launched in 2014, as reported in NST . Its objective is to promote tourism and boost economy within the Asean region and is the world's first Asean travel platform. It wasn't smooth sailing for Astro in the early days, as insiders once revealed - a drama best kept for another day. GoAsean, however, continues to post interesting destinations in the region on its website  which has won international awards . Meanwhile, Sarawak withdraws its representative in the Malaysian Tourism Board with immediate effect - the other pull out of the day. Reason? GOING NUTS: There must be fair play

As published in Malay Mail today Going Nuts By Graig Nunis FREEDOM of speech and freedom of expression are two wonderful gifts we should cherish, nurture and encourage. The freedom to say what we want, however, does not give one the right to break the law and this applies across the board. One must also be able to receive as well as one gives. No one, and this applies to politicians, royalty and other high and mighty types, should beat down the masses or deny them the right of answer. If a prince wants to speak out against the prime minister for something he perceives to be wrong, so be it. What harm is there? As long as it is not libellous, he should be allowed to say his piece. After all, other royal houses in Malaysia have thrown their support behind the ruling party on many occasions. Forgotten Olympians

UPDATE 11.20am: Chong Wei arrived at KLIA at 7.30am and was ushered out by 8.30pm. When interviewed by Astro Awani's sports desk, Chong Wei said he will try for the 2016 Olympics and revealed it could be in the (mixed) doubles event. Was it a joke or something he is seriously toying with? Only time will tell.
