Time to make money from football betting?

Malaysia is among the countries which registered the highest illicit financial outflows from 2001 to 2010 period, according to the Global Financial Integrity (GFI).
The Washington DC-based GFI said in its report that from 2001 to 2010, a massive US$285.24 billion (RM860 billion) have flowed out illegally from Malaysia, according to the latest edition of business weekly "Focus Malaysia".

Read the full report by Bernama here.

I've written about this in the past. Yet, the script remains the same.

And one of the contributors to illicit financial outflows - football betting and match-fixing.

Time to legalise football betting so that the government can make some money from it? Hopefully that will stop match-fixing?

After all, if the funding arm of the Sports Ministry obtains millions from a lottery company, why not money from football betting channelled to the development of the sport at the grassroots?

  1. Well, in Malaysia, we are "cultured to squander" and misuse whatever funds obtained.
Take FAM as an example when comes to misusing and squandering public money all these while...?

Hundreds of millions were blown away by FAM in the name of football which placed us at 158 fifa ranking.-what a "crying joke".

The time is now for us to say the unsaid, to write the UN-wrote and to coach the UN-coached.

  2. "Janji ditepati"

I understand where you're coming from but to use words like 'misusing & and squandering' is somewhat unfair unless you know something I don't :)

    Appreciate your comment nevertheless.

    Cheers.

    1. Hi Bro Haresh,

Sadly in Malaysia, we are consumed and exposed to the culture of appreciating people for their unworthiness. These are the kind of people also seen to be representing the masses at various level of governance to "tailor" the society which directly effect our life and living-with all due respect to you and your blog bro Haresh!

By the way, to know the shortcomings and failure to develop, train and educate people associated wt sports in Malaysia are at the "hardcore poorest level"- we don't need to be a genius wt the exception to all our senior sports writers, to understand the "fourth stage cancer" surrounding our sports scene.

As for the funds being misused and squandered, we just need to check FAM'S audited accounts from the time the palace "highjacked" FAM from the late Tan Sri Hamzah (may his soul rest in peace)

Hopefully good enough to justify my comment?

Lets do a real cheers someday...Hehehe
